For many technology professionals who were laid off in during the recession, it hasn't been easy finding a new job in the industry as companies have kept hiring to a minimum. But in the Tampa Bay area that may be changing. Local news Tampa Bay is reporting that an area technology forum recently polled 30 local companies and discovered that most of them are planning to add tech staff in 2011 . They estimate that right now there are over 600 technology jobs available.
For example, myMatrixx is a pharmacy and healthcare IT company that has already hired 10 people and needs to hire another 40 by year end. Immediate openings are for software developers, marketing and sales. These kind of jobs are in high-demand in Tampa Bay, as the unemployment rate there remains above 12%, and many newly added positions are lower paying.
