There are some exciting upcoming events that are sure to make Tampa Bay local news. A new baby cheetah was born at Busch Gardens in Tampa, and there is video available online of this adorable baby cat chirping like a little bird.

There is also a new season of Dancing With the Star's featuring Tampa Bay's own Chris Jericho. The wrestler/actor practiced at Palm Harbor Arthur Murray Studio for two weeks with partner Cheryl Burke, and the studio will be featured on the show. To celebrate, the studio will be hosting a viewing party at Tiffany's Family Restaurant in Palm Harbor. Finally, there is a new 5K road race associated with the Honda Grand Prix where the first 1,000 people to register will get free admission to the race activities.

Local news Tampa Bay on NCCA Men's Basketball Tournament

Hot on the heels of the just concluded NCCA Men's Basketball Tournament, officials said that the games could return to Tampa Bay as early as 2014. Rob Higgins, executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, said that the city will bid to hold the games again.

Last Saturday's tournament drew over 17,000 spectators in the third round games. It was the seventh NCCA men's event held in the Tampa Bay area. In the local news Tampa Bay, the tournament was the main news overshadoing airstrikes in Libya.

Main highlights of tournament were: the tense and taut third round game between Florida and UCLA, Kentucky freshman Brandon Knight making a game-winner with two seconds remaining against Princeton, Princeton coach Sydney Johnson breaking down in tears while describing his team's effort in a 59-57 loss against Kentucky, and the wonderfully irreverent Princeton pep band. All these and more made the tournament memorable.

Election Day On The Latest Local News Tampa Bay

Today is the day that everyone In Tampa has been waiting for – the election day for Tampa's next mayor. This has been the topic for much of the local news tampa bay. This is the day for the Tampa residents to choose between Bob Buckhorn and Rose Ferlita.

Rose Ferlita had combed through the town calling for residents who have not yet casted their votes. Statistical values from the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections showed that residents are interested in this election than the previous ones. Today, more than 18,000 residents have already casted their votes. This election will be a very close race since only a hundred votes separate them. And as the Supervisor mentioned, even if only less than a half percent is what separates the two, there will be another counting.
